IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR ALL GUESTS CONCERNING THE CORONA PANDEMIC:
Leirvassbu had planned the winter season opening for 26 March, but due to the ongoing corona pandemic, Leirvassbu and all other cabins in Jotunheimen have now decided to close for the winter. DNT (The Norwegian Trekking Association) have also closed all their cabins in the country until 1 May and urge you to postpone long trips in the mountains for the coming weeks. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
For more information from DNT: https://www.dnt.no/
Leirvassbu Mountain Lodge is situated in the heart of Jotunheimen’s hiking network, that has been known for generations as "The Pearl of Jotunheimen". The Mountain Lodge is built with ramblers and climbers in mind. The Mountain Lodge (1400 metres above sea level) is right next to the lake “Leirvatnet”, just below the characteristic mountain “Kyrkja” (The Church).
The Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT) have listed and marked routes going from Leirvassbu to all the mountain lodges in the area. In the winter season there are well marked and tracks to all the lodges.
From Leirvassbu you can climb at least 40 peaks over 2000 metres in the immediate area.
